A group of pupils from SEK-El Castillo, in Year 4 of ESO and Year 1 of Bachillerato, went on an visit to IFEMA Madrid to attend the STEM Racing Finals, one of the most prominent educational events in the fields of innovation, engineering and teamwork.
The main aim of the trip was to learn from the experience of the finalist teams, particularly SEK- Catalunya, who competed in this national stage after having successfully progressed through the previous rounds. During the day, the pupils were able to examine the projects at close quarters, analyse design, communication and management strategies, and observe the high technical and organisational standards required in this competition.
Beyond the competitive aspect, the visit was designed as an opportunity to foster collaborative learning between different schools within the SEK group. The students held meetings with the teams from SEK-Catalunya, sharing their impressions, the challenges they faced during the regional stages, and key insights for improvement in future editions.
This exchange helped to reinforce values such as teamwork, resilience, creativity and an innovative spirit, essential pillars of the STEM education. The visit to the STEM Racing finals at IFEMA proved to be a well-rounded educational experience, which not only enabled the pupils to broaden their technical knowledge, but also reinforced the culture SEK of collaboration, mutual support and innovation.
