Family Workshop: MYP Assessment and Using ManageBac

SEK-El Castillo organised a workshop for families of students in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) to provide a clearer understanding of the International Baccalaureate assessment system and the tools available to support their children’s learning journey.

During the session, programme coordinators explained the principles that underpin assessment in the MYP, highlighting its focus on skills development, reflection, and continuous improvement. Families had the opportunity to learn how the different assessment criteria are applied across subjects and how they contribute to students’ academic progress.

A significant part of the workshop was dedicated to ManageBac, the platform used by the school to manage and monitor learning. Through practical examples, families learned how to access units of inquiry, view assignments, track deadlines, and gain a deeper understanding of the work their children complete on a daily basis.

The session also provided an opportunity to answer questions and share strategies for strengthening communication between school and home, helping families to play an active and informed role in supporting their children’s education.

Initiatives such as this reflect the school’s commitment to transparency and collaboration with families, both of which are essential in supporting students’ holistic development within the framework of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP).
